Recap: Timberline Wolves vs. Rocky Mountain Grizzlies
The Timberline Wolves lost a heartbreaker to the Rocky Mountain Grizzlies when they met back in February of 2023, and they left with a heavy heart again on Thursday. Timberline fell just short of Rocky Mountain by a score of 44-42. The loss unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Timberline in their matchups with Rocky Mountain: they've now lost three in a row.
Grace Mertes and Emmi Swillie certainly did their best on Thursday to avoid the loss. Mertes scored 12 points, while Swillie scored 12 points along with six rebounds. Another player making a difference was Ashlyn Graklanoff, who scored six points along with five rebounds.
Rocky Mountain was led to victory by Logan Sailors and Anna Dabell. Sailors scored 14 points along with two steals, while Dabell almost dropped a double-double on 19 points and nine rebounds. Dabell has been hot recently, having posted eight or more rebounds the last four times she's played.
Timberline's defeat dropped their record down to 13-9. As for Rocky Mountain, the win (which was their fourth in a row) raised their record to 16-5.
Timberline will square off against Borah at 4:00 p.m. on Saturday. Hopefully Timberline focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 17 on Thursday. As for Rocky Mountain, they will take on Middleton at 7:30 p.m. on Saturday. Middleton is coming into the game with six straight wins on the road, meaning Rocky Mountain will have to defend against a team hungry for a win.
