Madera came up short against Hoover on Thursday, falling 3-0.

Madera took the loss but they managed to make steady progress, increasing their score in every set they played. The final score came out to 25-13, 25-15, 25-17.

Meanwhile, Sanger West had just enough and edged out Edison 3-2 on Thursday.

Sanger West was staring down a 2-1 deficit headed into the fourth set, but they rallied to take the next two for the win. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-13, 21-25, 20-25, 25-15, 15-7.

Madera better focus on containing Julia Gonzalez and Kianna Charfauros as the pair were huge in Sanger West's win. Gonzalez had 13 digs and six aces, while Charfauros had 12 digs and two aces. The dominant performance also gave Gonzalez a new career-high in assists (three).

Sanger West was lethal from the service line and finished the match with 23 aces. That's the most aces they've managed all season.

Sanger West's win bumped their record up to 20-16. As for Madera, their loss dropped their record down to 6-26.
