Basketball Recap: Ysleta Takes a Loss

Ysleta was not able to break out of their rough patch on Saturday as the team picked up their fifth straight loss. The contest between them and the Chaparral Lobos didn't end well, with the Ysleta Indians falling 48-29. While losing is never fun, the Indians can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' basketball rankings in their respective home states (they are ranked 1403rd in Texas, while the Lobos are ranked 108th in New Mexico).

Aubrey Dominquez continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines for Chaparral, dropping a double-double on 16 points and 11 boards. Dominquez has been hot for a while, having also posted two or more steals the last 25 times she's played. Another player making a difference was Arianna Molina, who posted ten points in addition to six steals and five assists.

Ysleta's defeat dropped their record down to 5-13. As for Chaparral, their record is now 5-8.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Ysleta will have a little extra prep time after the loss as they won't be playing again for a while. They'll take on Fabens at 7:00 p.m. on January 10th. Chaparral will also get a bit of a break before their next game: they'll face off against Loretto at 7:00 p.m. on January 7th.
