Clearfield fought the good fight in their extra-innings contest against Weber on Thursday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Warriors by a score of 18-16.

Peyton Kotter was huge no matter where he played even without the win. He pitched 5.1 innings while giving up just two earned (and eight unearned) runs off ten hits. Kotter has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't pitched less than five innings in three consecutive pitching appearances. Kotter was also stellar in the batter's box, getting on base in all six of his plate appearances with four RBI, two runs, and a double.

In other batting news, Logan Fenn was cooking despite his team's loss, scoring three runs while getting on base in two of his five plate appearances. Another player making a difference was Colt Chambers, who went 1-for-5 with a triple, a run, and an RBI.

On the hitting side, Layton let Tanner Neil and Eli Anderson loose on the outfield. Neil went 4-for-4 with four runs, three doubles, and an RBI, while Anderson went 3-for-4 with a home run, two runs, and two RBI. Fish Manning was another key contributor, scoring two runs while going 2-for-5.

Clearfield now has a losing record at 4-5. As for Layton, they pushed their record up to 5-1 with that victory, which was their tenth straight at home dating back to last season.
