Basketball Recap: Williamson's Win Ends 12-Game Losing Streak at Home

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Williamson). Everything went their way against the Galeton Tigers on Monday as the Williamson Warriors made off with a 69-49 victory. Perhaps unsurprisingly given the team's high-flying offense, the game also marked the team's biggest win of the season.

Leading Williamson to victory were Jack Nolan and Maddox Hartman. Nolan went 9 for 15 en route to 29 points along with seven boards and five steals, while Hartman went 8 of 13 on his way to 18 points in addition to eight assists and seven steals. That makes it four consecutive games in which Nolan has scored at least a third of Williamson's points. Alex Watson was another key player, going 5 for 10 on his way to 10 points.

They weren't the only one working in the assists department: Williamson was working as a unit and finished the game with 15 assists. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Galeton only posted eight assists.

Galeton's loss came despite strong showings from GAVIN SHUTT and TREY SYKORA. SHUTT posted 16 points, while SYKORA went 5 of 9 en route to 12 points and six rebounds. The dominant performance also gave SHUTT a new career-high in blocks (two). LUKE KNISELY also deserves some recognition as he pulled down his first board of the season.

Williamson's victory ended a 12-game drought at home dating back to last season and bumped them up to 3-16. As for Galeton, they have been struggling recently as they've lost 11 of their last 13 contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-14 record this season.

Williamson will challenge North Penn-Liberty at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. North Penn-Liberty is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 58.2 points per game this season. Galeton has already played their next matchup (against Coudersport), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
