Softball Game Preview: San Marcos Knights vs. Rancho Bernardo Broncos

The San Marcos Knights will venture away from home to face off against the Rancho Bernardo Broncos at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday.

Last Thursday, San Marcos came up short against Poway and fell 10-7.

Abby Lisak was cooking despite her team's loss, going a perfect 2-for-2 with one run and one double. That double was her first of the season. Audrey Pearl was another key player, going 3-for-4 with one RBI.

Meanwhile, it may have taken eight innings to finish the job, but Rancho Bernardo ultimately got the result they hoped for on Tuesday. They had just enough and edged out Mission Hills 3-2.

Charlotte Savarese spent all eight innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned (and one unearned) run on three hits and racked up eight Ks.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Jenalyn Buan, who went 1-for-4 with one home run and two RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Asiyah Ali, who went 2-for-3 with one triple and one RBI.

San Marcos has been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 10-12-1 record this season. As for Rancho Bernardo, their record is now 15-7.

San Marcos couldn't quite get it done against Rancho Bernardo when the teams last played two weeks ago as they fell 5-2. Can the Knights avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
