Softball Recap: St. Marys Flying Dutch vs. Curwensville Golden Tide
It may have taken eight innings to finish the job, but St. Marys ultimately got the result they hoped for on Wednesday. Everything went their way against the Curwensville Golden Tide as they made off with a 9-2 win. The Flying Dutch might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won three matchups by seven runs or more this season.
Avery Eckels spent all eight innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned runs on six hits and racked up eight Ks. She has been consistent : she hasn't given up more than one walk any time she's pitched this season.
At the plate, the team relied heavily on Addison Beimel, who went 1-for-4 with one home run, five RBI, and two runs. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in April of 2024. Another player making a difference was Giuliana Muccio, who scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-3.
