Basketball Game Preview: Union Redhawks vs. Broken Arrow Tigers

The Union Redhawks will head out on the road to take on the Broken Arrow Tigers at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday. Both teams are coming into the matchup red-hot, with Union sitting on three straight victories and Broken Arrow on six.

Last Tuesday, Union took their game with ease, bagging a 62-34 win over Muskogee.

Meanwhile, Broken Arrow hadn't done well against Charles Page recently (they were 2-7 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Tuesday. Broken Arrow simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat Charles Page 76-45. The Tigers have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won seven contests by 22 points or more this season.

Broken Arrow's win came from a few key players Union will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was McKenzie Mathurin, who went 8 for 17 on her way to 23 points and five assists. The match was her 12th in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Macy Marraccini, who went 8 of 18 en route to 18 points in addition to six rebounds and four steals.

Broken Arrow smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 11 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least nine offensive boards in six consecutive games.

Broken Arrow's victory was their seventh straight on the road dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 11-1. They've dominated over that stretch too, winning by an average of 41.4 points. As for Union, their record now sits at 8-3.

Union came up short against Broken Arrow in their previous matchup back in February of 2023, falling 51-40. Can Union avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
