Softball Game Preview: Dobson Mustangs vs. West Point Dragons

The Dobson Mustangs will face off against the West Point Dragons at 3:45 p.m. on Monday. Dobson has now lost seven straight, leaving the team hunting for their first win since March 21.

Dobson fell victim to Mountain View and their airtight pitching crew on Thursday. They lost 26-0 to the Toros.

Meanwhile, after some red-hot attacks at the plate in their last five matchups, West Point finally came back down to earth on Thursday. They took a 7-2 hit to the loss column at the hands of Shadow Ridge. The loss continues a trend for the Dragons in their meetings with the Stallions: they've now lost six in a row.

Leilani Mendez was cooking despite her team's loss, going 1-for-2 with four stolen bases and one RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Mariah Mendez, who got on base in three of her four plate appearances with three stolen bases.

West Point's defeat dropped their record down to 8-8. As for Dobson, their loss dropped their record down to 4-13.

Dobson skirted past West Point 5-4 in their previous matchup back in February of 2024. Will the Mustangs repeat their success, or do the Dragons have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
