Recap: Langley Saxons vs. James Madison Warhawks
It's hard to turn regular season success into postseason wins, a fact the Langley Saxons can now relate to. They were dealt a 42-6 defeat at the hands of James Madison on Friday. Langley has struggled against James Madison recently, as their game on Friday was their fifth consecutive lost matchup.
Cole Samburg threw for 110 yards on six of 13 attempts. Vincent Shen was his top target, picking up 62 receiving yards.
James Madison's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Dominic Knicely, who rushed for 113 yards and two touchdowns on only 14 carries. Darren Knicely was in the mix too, providing James Madison with two touchdowns.
Langley has yet to win a matchup on the road this season, leaving them with a 5-6 record. The slump could be explained by some tough opposition over that stretch, namely James Madison, Washington-Liberty, and Yorktown. As for James Madison, the win (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 11-1.
Langley does not have any more games scheduled as of now. James Madison will be playing in front of their home fans against Herndon at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Herndon will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Virginia Rankings (they are ranked 93rd, while James Madison is ranked 15th).
