Baseball Game Preview: Glasgow Scotties vs. Butler County Bears

The Glasgow Scotties will square off against the Butler County Bears at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. Glasgow has now lost eight straight, leaving the team hunting for their first win since April 21.

Glasgow made up a huge gap compared to their last game against Campbellsville, but they still couldn't quite topple them. The Scotties fell just short of the Eagles by a score of 7-5 on Saturday. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest loss the Scotties have suffered since March 17th.

Hudson Gumm made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases and one run. He has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last three times he's played. Another player making a difference was Steven Garrett, who went 2-for-4 with two runs.

Edmonson County hit Butler County with a seven-run second inning on Friday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Bears came up short against the Wildcats, falling 10-4. The defeat continues a trend for the Bears in their meetings with the Wildcats: they've now lost four in a row.

Glasgow's loss dropped their record down to 8-20-1. As for Butler County, their defeat dropped their record down to 15-12.

Glasgow came out on top in a nail-biter against Butler County when the teams last played back in March of 2016, sneaking past 3-1. Do the Scotties have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Bears turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
