Softball Recap: Newark Academy Takes a Loss

Newark Academy fell victim to Nutley and their airtight pitching crew on Wednesday. They took a 3-0 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Maroon Raiders. The loss continues a trend for the Minutemen in their meetings with the Maroon Raiders: they've now lost six in a row.

Newark Academy's defeat dropped their record down to 3-7. As for Nutley, they have been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five games. That's provided a nice bump to their 7-4 record this season.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Newark Academy will square off against Verona at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. The last three games the Hillbillies have played have been within two runs, so don't be surprised if it's a close one. As for Nutley, they will face off against Glen Ridge at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. The Maroon Raiders' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Ridgers have averaged an impressive 7.5 runs per game this season.
