Baseball Recap: Cedarville Sets Scoring Season-High Against Catholic Central

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Cedarville). They were the clear victors by a 17-2 margin over the Catholic Central Irish on Monday. The victory continues a trend for the Indians in their matchups with the Irish: they've now won five in a row.

Wyatt Percival and Zach Creeden made a big impact while hitting and pitching. Throwing, Percival pitched one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. Meanwhile, Creeden tossed four innings while giving up just two earned runs off four hits. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two walks in six consecutive appearances. At bat, Percival got on base in all three of his plate appearances with two RBI and one run, while Creeden went a perfect 3-for-3 with three runs, one stolen base, and one double. Cedarville is 4-1 when Creeden posts two or more runs, but 3-4 otherwise.

In other batting news, Tavin Baldwin was incredible, going a perfect 3-for-3 with three runs, four RBI, and one triple. Those three hits gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Jacob Lide, who went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI.

Cedarville always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .625. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

Cedarville's win bumped their record up to 7-5. As for Catholic Central, they are on a six-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 3-6.

Cedarville will have a chance to go back-to-back against the Irish: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
