Baseball Recap: Mayfield Takes a Loss

Mayfield lost against Ballard Memorial back in May of 2024, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Tuesday. The Cardinals came up short against the Bombers, falling 14-3. The Cardinals have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Carson Price was huge while hitting and pitching even without the win. He pitched three innings while giving up just one earned run but no hits. Price was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run while going 2-for-3. He also hit two doubles, marking his first of the season.

In other batting news, Kyler Simpson made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and scored two runs while going 2-for-3. He also put up a double, which was his first of the season.

Mayfield's defeat dropped their record down to 3-5. As for Ballard Memorial, their win ended a four-game drought at home and bumped them up to 2-5.

Looking ahead, Mayfield will head out on the road to face off against St. Mary at 5:30 p.m. on the 10th. Ballard Memorial has already played their next game (against Hickman County), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
