Basketball Recap: Charlie Fairchild's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Creede over West Grand

Creede came up into this matchup off a tough 30-point defeat on Thursday. This time they kept things ultra-competitive, but unfortunately the final result was the same. They fell just short of the West Grand Mustangs by a score of 31-29 on Friday. The match marked the Miners' lowest-scoring contest so far this season.

Several Miners players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Charlie Fairchild, who posted 15 points and four steals. Fairchild has been hot recently, having posted four or more steals the last four times he's played. Another player making a difference was Jaxson Fazio, who earned five points along with eight boards and four steals.

Even though they lost, Creede smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 11 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive rebounds in six consecutive games.

West Grand's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Sanjay Geffers, who had 11 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Stran Lechman, who put up ten points.
