Soccer Game Preview: River Valley vs. Yuma Catholic

River Valley hasn't had much luck against Yuma Catholic recently, but that could start to change on Tuesday. The River Valley Dust Devils will host the Yuma Catholic Shamrocks at 2:00 p.m.

River Valley is headed into Tuesday's contest looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their ninth straight game on Wednesday. They came up short against Tonopah Valley, falling 9-1. The Dust Devils were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 7-1.

Meanwhile, Yuma Catholic had already won three in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 5.3 goals) and they went ahead and made it four on Friday. They put the hurt on the Minotaur with a sharp 4-1 victory. Considering the Shamrocks have won ten matchups by more than two goals this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.

They hit Odyssey Institute with a four-pronged attack, as the team got scores from Maddux Flores, Gean Lagarda, Hector Soto, and Esteban Hernandez.

Yuma Catholic has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won seven of their last eight games, which provided a nice bump to their 14-4 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they scored 56 goals over those eight contests. As for River Valley, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-9.

River Valley might still be hurting after the 10-2 loss they got from Yuma Catholic when the teams last played back in February of 2021. That match was all but decided by halftime, at which point River Valley was down 6-0.
