Baseball Recap: East Lake Now 8-1 over Last Nine Games

East Lake had to skate by with only a one-run margin when they last took the field, which might have inspired the nine-run drubbing they dealt St. Petersburg Catholic on Tuesday. The Eagles were the clear victors by an 11-2 margin over the Barons. The Eagles might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won ten matchups by six runs or more this season.

East Lake got a great performance from Dane Wright as he tossed five innings while giving up just two earned runs off three hits. Wright has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two walks in four consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Eli Millian was a standout: he scored three runs and stole two bases while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances. That's the most stolen bases he has posted since back in February. The team also got some help courtesy of Jackson Palmer, who scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-3.

East Lake has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won eight of their last nine games. That's provided a nice bump to their 16-6 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.7 runs on average over those games. As for St. Petersburg Catholic, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 9-14.

Coming up, East Lake will be playing at home against Dunedin at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. As for St. Petersburg Catholic, they will head out to challenge IMG Academy White at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday.
