Softball Preview: Avella Eagles vs. Mapletown Maples
Avella hasn't had much luck against Mapletown recently, but that could start to change on Tuesday. The Eagles will venture away from home to challenge the Maples at 4:15 p.m. Having both just faced considerable losses, both teams are looking to turn things around.
The home team had come away the winner the last four times Avella and Jefferson-Morgan had met, but sadly for the fans who attended this one that wasn't the case. The Eagles lost 15-1 to the Rockets on Monday.
Avella saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Paisley Downey, who went 1-for-3 with one triple, one stolen base, and one run. That triple was Downey's first of the season. Another was Emma Day, who went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases and one RBI.
Meanwhile, Mapletown fell victim to Carmichaels and their airtight pitching crew on Monday. They came up short against the Mighty Mikes, falling 15-0.
Avella's defeat dropped their record down to 0-6. As for Mapletown, their loss dropped their record down to 1-8.
