Basketball Recap: Cookeville Wins High-Profile Contest Against Lebanon

On Wednesday, Cookeville faced Lebanon in a battle between two of the state's top teams. The Cookeville Cavaliers walked away with a 45-32 victory over the Lebanon Blue Devils. The game was the first time the Cavaliers have beaten the Blue Devils on their court since February 20, 2024.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Cookeville to victory, but perhaps none more so than Cara Lee Gilbert, who posted 16 points. Gilbert's big performance that morning made it three games in a row in which she has scored at least 16 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Callie Reeder, who earned ten points.

Cookeville is on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 23-7 record this season. The defeat snapped Lebanon's winning streak at ten games and leaves them with a 24-7 record.

Cookeville wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next contest, a 57-55 win against Cleveland on the 8th. As for Lebanon, they have also already played their next game, an 82-32 loss against Bradley Central on the 8th.
