Basketball Recap: Winthrop Comes Up Short

If Winthrop was feeling good fresh off their 49-28 takedown of Mountain Valley last Monday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Winthrop Ramblers fell 48-36 to the Spruce Mountain Phoenix on Wednesday. The Ramblers have struggled against the Phoenix recently, as the game was their third consecutive lost matchup.

Winthrop's loss dropped their record down to 3-3. As for Spruce Mountain, they pushed their record up to 3-0 with the victory, which was their tenth straight at home dating back to last season.

Winthrop will be home for the holidays to greet Old Orchard Beach at 4:00 p.m. on Saturday. Winthrop is facing Old Orchard Beach at the right time seeing as Old Orchard Beach is stuck on a three-game losing streak. As for Spruce Mountain, they will head out on the road to square off against Yarmouth at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday.
