Basketball Recap: Skyview Wolverines vs. Peak to Peak Pumas

It was a good run, but the Skyview Wolverines unfortunately witnessed the end of their four-game winning streak on Wednesday. They took a 58-45 hit to the loss column at the hands of Peak to Peak. Skyview was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Pumas apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in February of 2023.

Several Wolverines players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Nevaeh Lucero, who scored eight points along with five steals. Lucero is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed three or more in the last eight games she's played. Jada Kemm was another key contributor, scoring 15 points.

It was another big night for Alexandra Eschmeyer, who dropped a double-double on 32 points and 20 rebounds for Peak to Peak. That makes it 16 consecutive games in which Eschmeyer has scored at least a third of Peak to Peak's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Megan Wagner, who scored 18 points along with five rebounds and four steals.

Skyview's loss dropped their record down to 14-4. As for Peak to Peak, their victory was their 11th straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 13-3.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Skyview will take on the Rams at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Peak to Peak, they will be playing in front of their home fans against the Wildcats at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday. The Academy will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Colorado Rankings (they are ranked 210th, while the Pumas are ranked 49th).
