Softball Recap: Blountstown Tigers vs. Franklin County Seahawks

After flying high against Marianna last Friday, Blountstown came back down to earth. The Tigers took an 8-4 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Franklin County Seahawks on Monday. The Tigers were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Seahawks apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in April of 2024.

Kinlee Edwards made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 1-for-3 with one home run. Another player making a difference was Marley Barfield, who went 1-for-3 with one triple and two RBI.

Blountstown has traveled a rocky road recently, having lost four of their last five contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 8-11 record this season. As for Franklin County, they pushed their record up to 14-5 with the win, which was their fifth straight on the road.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Blountstown will head out to challenge Wewahitchka at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Tigers are facing the Gators at the right time seeing as the Gators are stuck on a five-game losing streak. As for Franklin County, they will head out on the road to take on Chiles at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Timberwolves will roll in looking for their ninth straight victory, something the Seahawks surely won't give up without a fight.
