Softball Recap: Apple Valley Wins Going Away Against Oak Hills

Apple Valley hadn't done well against Oak Hills recently (they were 2-7 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Tuesday. The Sun Devils were the clear victors by a 6-0 margin over the Bulldogs. The result was nothing new for the Sun Devils, who have now won five matches by six runs or more so far this season.

Brynne Johnson made a big impact no matter where she played. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run over seven innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-4 with one home run and two RBI.

Johnson wasn't the only one making solid contact as five players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Liza Lozano, who went 1-for-2 with one stolen base and one RBI.

Apple Valley hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. The team has now struck out at least two batters in three consecutive contests.

Apple Valley is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five games. That's provided a nice bump to their 7-4-1 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.6 runs over those games. As for Oak Hills, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 3-8.

Apple Valley has already played their next matchup, a 9-6 win against Serrano on the 3rd. As for Oak Hills, they also wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next contest, a 6-5 victory against Sultana on the 3rd.
