Baseball Game Preview: St. Paul/Palmer Wildcats vs. Aurora Huskies

The St. Paul/Palmer Wildcats will head out to challenge the Aurora Huskies at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. Given that the two teams suffered a loss in their last games, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this match.

St. Paul/Palmer fought the good fight in their extra-innings game against York on Tuesday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Dukes by a score of 2-1.

St. Paul/Palmer saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Zandyn Weller, who went 2-for-4 with one triple and one run. That triple marked the first that Weller has hit this season.

Adams Central hit Aurora with a five-run first inning on Saturday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Huskies came up short against the Patriots, falling 16-7. The loss continues a trend for the Huskies in their meetings with the Patriots: they've now lost four in a row.

Aurora's defeat dropped their record down to 3-11. As for St. Paul/Palmer, their loss dropped their record down to 8-6.

St. Paul/Palmer took their win against Aurora in their previous meeting back in April of 2024 by a conclusive 10-0 score. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Wildcats since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
