Softball Recap: Naples Golden Eagles vs. Immokalee Indians
Naples extended their losing streak to three on Wednesday, dropping them down to 1-4. They lost 12-2 to the Immokalee Indians. If the Golden Eagles were looking for revenge after losing 4-3 to the Indians when the teams met back in February of 2025, then they'll just have to keep looking.
As for Immokalee, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 3-1. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered a grand total of 2 run in those games.
For Immokalee's part, Maria Marino made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She pitched four innings while giving up just two earned runs off four hits. Marino has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two walks any time she's pitched this season. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with one run and one RBI.
In other pitching news, Andraa Guzman looked comfortable as she pitched one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than two hits in three consecutive appearances.
Back at the plate, Aniyah Martinez was incredible, going a perfect 4-for-4 with one home run, five RBI, and two runs. She also hit a double, marking her first of the season. Another player making a difference was Alexia Turrubiartez, who went 1-for-2 with two runs and one RBI.
Looking ahead, Naples will head out on the road to take on Palmetto Ridge at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Immokalee, they will be playing at home against Gulf Coast at 7:00 p.m. on Monday.
