Baseball Game Preview: Marengo Indians vs. Antioch Sequoits

The Marengo Indians will square off against the Antioch Sequoits at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. Both come into the contest bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Marengo took a loss when they played away from home on Monday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Thursday. Everything went their way against Richmond-Burton as they made off with an 8-1 victory. The Indians might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won six games by six runs or more this season.

Meanwhile, Antioch can bid farewell to their three-game losing streak thanks to their game on Thursday. They won by a run and slipped past Grayslake Central 3-2. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Sequoits have posted since April 9th.

Antioch got a great performance from Colby Costello as he struck out nine batters over 6.1 innings while giving up just two earned runs off four hits. Those nine strikeouts gave Costello a new career-high.

At the plate, Antioch saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Hunter Feldkamp, who went 1-for-2 with one run and one double.

Marengo's victory bumped their record up to 11-7. As for Antioch, their win bumped their record up to 10-11.

Marengo beat Antioch 4-0 when the teams last played back in March of 2025. Will the Indians repeat their success, or do the Sequoits have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
