Softball Game Preview: Madera South Stallions vs. Torres Toros

The Madera South Stallions will challenge the Torres Toros at 5:30 p.m. on Friday.

Monday just wasn't the day for Madera South's offense. They came up short against Minarets on Monday, falling 10-0. Having soared to a lofty 12 runs in the game before, the Stallions' shutout was a dramatic turnaround.

Meanwhile, Torres had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 22.5 runs) and they went ahead and made it three on Tuesday. They came out on top in a nail-biter against the Warriors, sneaking past 13-11. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Toros have posted since April 9, 2024.

The team relied heavily on Jillian Villalobos, who went 3-for-4 with one home run, three RBI, and one stolen base. Another player making a difference was J'lynn Mitchell, who scored two runs while going 3-for-4.

Villalobos wasn't the only one making solid contact: Torres kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 19 hits. That's the most hits they've managed all season.

Madera South has traveled a rocky road recently, having lost eight of their last nine matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 3-12 record this season. As for Torres, their win bumped their record up to 5-7.
