Basketball Recap: Peninsula Comes Up Short

Peninsula was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They were six points away from ending the streak, but they lost a 67-61 heartbreaker at the hands of the San Leandro Pirates. The loss was a bit of a surprise, as the Seahawks came into the contest with a sizable advantage in MaxPreps' basketball rankings in their respective home states (they are ranked 216th in Washington, while the Pirates are ranked 1001st in California).

Peninsula's defeat dropped their record down to 3-6. As for San Leandro, with the win, they broke their 19-game losing streak and moved their record to 1-11.

Peninsula has already played their next game, a 71-41 victory against Skyline on the 27th. As for San Leandro, they will be playing at home against Mt. Eden at 3:00 p.m. on January 3, 2025.
