Baseball Recap: Palmer Comes Up Short

Palmer had lost four straight at home, but on Monday they dropped their record down to 2-9 to make it five. They fell 5-1 to the Pathfinder RVT Pioneers. The Panthers were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Pioneers apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in May of 2024.

Brendan Hess spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered three earned (and two unearned) runs on ten hits and racked up nine Ks.

At the plate, Sebastian Mayberry was cooking despite his team's loss, going a perfect 2-for-2 with one triple and one run. That run was his first of the season.

As for Pathfinder RVT, the win (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 6-1. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.7 runs on average over those games.

On Pathfinder RVT's side, they also let their pitcher toss all seven innings and he was also dialed-in: Tim Russell gave up only one earned run on four hits and racked up 12 Ks.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Brayden Mega, who went 3-for-4 with three stolen bases and one run. Mega is crushing it when it comes to stolen bases: he's snagged at least one every time he's taken the field this season. Another player making a difference was Emerson Boronski, who went 2-for-4 with one triple, two RBI, and one run.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Palmer will head out to take on Ware at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Pathfinder RVT, they will venture away from home to face off against Putnam Vo-Tech at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Beavers have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 10.89 runs per game on average), something the Pioneers will no doubt try to take advantage of.
