Placer hasn't had much luck against Bear River recently, but that could start to change on Thursday. Placer will welcome Bear River at 4:00 p.m. The two teams are strolling into their matches after big wins in their previous games.
Placer is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. They blew past Foresthill 21-5 on Wednesday. The Hillmen might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won eight contests by six runs or more this season.

Ever WileyPearson was a major factor no matter where she played. She pitched seven innings while giving up just two earned (and three unearned) runs off eight hits. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two walks in six consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 4-for-6 with three runs, one triple, and one double. Those four hits gave her a new career-high.
In other batting news, Carly Rice was incredible, going 3-for-5 with one home run, six RBI, and two runs. Another player making a difference was Emma Herr, who scored three runs and stole a base while going 3-for-5.
Placer always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .647. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.
Meanwhile, Bear River entered their tilt with Marysville on Tuesday with three consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with four. Their pitcher stepped up to hand the Indians a 15-0 shutout. With that win, the Bruins brought their scoring average up to 7.3 runs per game.
Like Placer, Bear River also got a great game from a two-way player: Ana Marin Hemings. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run while striking out six over five innings pitched. Hemings also allowed three hits, marking her first of the season. She was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run while going 2-for-4.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Taryn Cleek, who scored four runs and stole a base while going 4-for-4. Macy Martin was another key player, scoring a run while going 2-for-3.
Placer's victory was their sixth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 9-3. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 14.2 runs over those games. As for Bear River, their victory bumped their record up to 5-2.
Thursday's game will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Placer hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .362. However, it's not like Bear River struggles in that department as they've averaged .366. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Placer suffered a grim 17-4 defeat to Bear River in their previous meeting back in March of 2024. Will Placer have more luck at home instead of on the road? Check MaxPreps after the match for a full breakdown of the game, commentary, and other softball content.
