Baseball Recap: Akron Snaps 15-Game Streak of Wins at Home

Akron dropped their record down to 12-3 on Thursday, which also ended the team's 15-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season. They fell just short of the Haxtun Fightin' Bulldogs by a score of 5-4. If the Rams were looking for revenge after losing 13-12 to the Fightin' Bulldogs when the teams met back in April of 2024, then they'll just have to keep looking.

Caleb Poss was cooking despite his team's loss, going 2-for-3 with four stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI. Jax Kusel was another key player, getting on base in all four of his plate appearances with three stolen bases and one run.

As for Haxtun, the victory was the fifth in a row for them, bringing their record up to 11-2. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.6 runs on average over those games.

On Haxtun's side, they saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Madden Larsen, who went 2-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double. That stolen base marked the first that Larsen has snagged this season.

The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: Akron beat Haxtun by a score of 13-3 later that day.
