Softball Recap: Helena Wins Going Away Against Calera

Helena posted their biggest victory since February 14th on Wednesday. They were the clear victor by a 9-1 margin over the Calera Eagles. That's more bragging rights for the Huskies, who also won the pair's last head-to-head.

Helena got a great performance from Marlee Parsons as she didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out six over five innings pitched. Parsons has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two walks any time she's pitched this season.

At the plate, Lily Sanderson was a standout: she scored two runs and stole two bases while getting on base in four of her five plate appearances. The dominant performance gave her a new career-high in stolen bases. Tatum Cooper was another key player, scoring two runs while going 2-for-4.

Helena was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .394. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Calera only posted a batting average of .154.

Helena's record is now 10-2. As for Calera, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-7.

Helena wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next contest, a 3-1 loss against Sparkman on the 1st. As for Calera, they also didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next matchup, a 5-4 defeat against Marbury on the 27th.
