Maine West fought the good fight in their extra-innings match against Niles West on Thursday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Wolves by a score of 9-8. Even though they lost, the Warriors' still made a splash at the plate and bumped their average scoring up to 6.1 runs per game (they're now ranked -1th in scoring overall).

Julian Delao made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and got on base in four of his five plate appearances with one home run, two runs, and two RBI. That home run was his first of the season. The team also got some help courtesy of Tommy Kulesza, who went 2-for-5 with one run, one double, and one RBI.

Maine West has been struggling recently as they've lost six of their last seven contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 4-10 record this season. As for Niles West, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 5-10.

While Maine West had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 4:30 p.m. on Friday.
