Soccer Recap: Mendez Extends Winning Streak to Three

Mendez waltzed into their matchup on Friday with two straight wins... but they left with three. They came out on top in a nail-biter against the Contreras Cobras, sneaking past 3-2. Given the Jaguars' advantage in MaxPreps' California soccer rankings (they are ranked 62nd, while the Cobras are ranked 394th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Mendez hit Contreras with a three-pronged attack, as the team got scores from Angel Chavez, Michael Juarez, and Hector Chanquin.

Mendez pushed their record up to 8-1 with the victory, which was their third straight on the road. As for Contreras, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-3-2.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Mendez will have some time to savor their win since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Narbonne at 4:00 p.m. on January 6, 2025. After both having extra time off, Contreras and Roybal will dust off their jerseys to challenge one another at 4:00 p.m. on January 8, 2025. Roybal is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 2.8 goals per game this season.
