Basketball Recap: Capital Takes a Loss

Capital was not able to break out of their rough patch on Monday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They were four points away from ending the streak, but they lost a 65-61 heartbreaker at the hands of the Cabell Midland Knights. Despite running the score up even higher than they did in their prior game last Wednesday (58), the Cougars still had to take the loss.

It was another big night for Ethan Blackburn, who almost dropped a double-double with 24 points and nine boards for Cabell Midland. The dominant performance also gave Blackburn a new career-high in steals (four). Aidan Ray was another key player, putting up 14 points and five rebounds.

Capital's loss dropped their record down to 4-10. As for Cabell Midland, they have been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four contests, which provided a nice bump to their 9-8 record this season.

Coming up, Capital is taking a road trip to square off against Spring Valley at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Cabell Midland, they will be playing in front of their home fans against St. Albans at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday.
