Baseball Recap: Grafton Find Success

It may have taken nine innings to finish the job, but Grafton ultimately got the result they hoped for on Friday. They narrowly escaped with a victory as the squad sidled past the Cedarburg Bulldogs 6-5. The win continues a trend for the Black Hawks in their matchups with the Bulldogs: they've now won four in a row.

Brady Eader made a splash no matter where he played. He tossed five innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off six hits. He has been consistent: he hasn't given up more than two walks in six consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, going 1-for-5 with two RBI, one run, and one double.

Eader wasn't the only one making solid contact as six players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Peyton McKinney, who went 2-for-5 with two runs. That's the most runs McKinney has posted since back in April.

The victory was their first on the road , bumping their record up to 9-4. As for Cedarburg, they dropped their record down to 4-8 with the defeat, which was their fourth straight at home.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Grafton will head out to face off against Kettle Moraine Lutheran at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. The Chargers will roll in looking for their sixth straight win, something the Black Hawks surely won't give up without a fight. As for Cedarburg, they will venture away from home to take on Homestead at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. The Bulldogs are facing the Highlanders at the right time seeing as the Highlanders are stuck on a three-game losing streak.
