Baseball Recap: Creighton Prep Takes Down Ranked Pius X

Creighton Prep faced Pius X in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Tuesday. The Bluejay came out on top against the Thunderbolts by a score of 4-1. Give some credit to the fans of both teams: the last six times they've met, the home team has come away the winner.

Creighton Prep got a great performance from Teddy Prauner as he didn't allow a single earned run over 6.2 innings pitched. Prauner has been consistent: he hasn't given up more than one earned run any time he's pitched this season.

At the plate, Garrett Andersen and Levi Anthony did most of the damage at the plate: Andersen went a perfect 2-for-2 with one run, one double, and one RBI, while Anthony got on base in two of his four plate appearances with two stolen bases and two RBI.

Creighton Prep's win was their sixth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 15-8. Those home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.0 runs over those games. As for Pius X, their defeat ended a six-game streak of away wins dating back to last season and brought them to 6-6.

We've got plenty of inter-district action coming up soon. Creighton Prep is set to challenge their familiar foe Millard North at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Bluejay 3.9, the Mustangs 3.4) so any runs scored will be well earned. Meanwhile, Pius X will take on rival Millard South at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday.
