Ansonia picks up third straight win at home

Recap: Ansonia Chargers vs. Amistad Wolves

The Ansonia Chargers scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Thursday. They walked away with a 50-42 victory over Amistad. Given Ansonia's advantage in MaxPreps' Connecticut basketball rankings (they are ranked 30th, while Amistad is ranked 105th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Amistad's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was LaShaya Patterson , who scored 14 points along with nine rebounds and six blocks. Patterson scored a full 33.3% of Amistad's points, the third time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points. Another player making a difference was Fatema Thomas, who scored 13 points along with five rebounds and three steals.

Ansonia pushed their record up to 5-1 with that victory, which was their third straight at home. As for Amistad, their loss dropped their record down to 3-3.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Ansonia will take on Crosby at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Amistad will finish 2023 at home by hosting Woodstock Academy at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday. Woodstock Academy will be looking to extend their current three-game winning streak.
