Softball Recap: El Capitan Drops Season-High Score on Golden Valley

El Capitan was not able to break out of their rough patch on Wednesday as the team picked up their 25th straight defeat dating back to last season. They were two runs away from ending the streak, but they lost a 12-10 heartbreaker at the hands of the Golden Valley Cougars. On the bright side, the ten- run performance marked the Gauchos' highest-scoring contest to date.

Amanda Tostado put in work while hitting and pitching. She struck out 11 batters over seven innings while giving up just two earned (and ten unearned) runs off 11 hits (and not a single walk). She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, scoring two runs and stealing four bases while getting on base in two of her four plate appearances.

Tostado wasn't the only one making solid contact as three players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Gaby Sy, who went a perfect 1-for-1 with one stolen base and two RBI. That hit was Sy's first of the season.

El Capitan's loss dropped their record down to 0-12. As for Golden Valley, they moved to 4-8 with that win, which also ended their three-game losing streak.

El Capitan wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next match, a 13-0 defeat against Los Banos on the 3rd. As for Golden Valley, they also didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next game, an 8-0 loss against Atwater on the 3rd.
