Preview: St. John XXIII Lions vs. Second Baptist Eagles
After two games on the road, St. John XXIII is heading back home. They will take on the Second Baptist Eagles at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Both teams come into the contest bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Last Friday, St. John XXIII beat Lutheran South Academy 52-42.
In what's become a running theme this season, Second Baptist gave their fans yet another huge win on Friday. They blew past Kelly Catholic 55-31. Given Second Baptist's advantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 384th, while Kelly Catholic is ranked 1032nd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
St. John XXIII now has a winning record of 7-6. As for Second Baptist, they are on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven contests, which provided a nice bump to their 16-9 record this season.
St. John XXIII was taken down by Second Baptist 57-24 when the teams last played back in January of 2023. Can St. John XXIII avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
