Baseball Game Preview: American Canyon Wolves vs. Clear Lake Cardinals

The American Canyon Wolves will head out on the road to challenge the Clear Lake Cardinals at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Both come into the matchup bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

American Canyon is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Saturday. They came out on top against Head-Royce by a score of 6-2. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Wolves.

The team relied heavily on Cole Gholar, who went 3-for-4 with two stolen bases and three RBI. That's the most hits he has posted since back in April. Another player making a difference was Andre Lopez, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with one stolen base and one run.

The scorekeeper got an easy start on Saturday as neither Clear Lake nor Berean Christian made it on the board until the fifth inning. The Cardinals walked away with a 5-1 victory over the Eagles. Winning may never get old, but the Cardinals sure are getting used to it with their seventh in a row.

Adam Bruch JR made a splash no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out seven batters over seven innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off ten hits. Bruch JR was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with two RBI, one run, and one double.

In other batting news, Johnny Gonzales III was excellent, going 2-for-4 with one triple, one run, and one RBI. Jesse Hayes was another key player, going 2-for-4 with one stolen base and one run.

Clear Lake's win was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 18-5. Those road victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.0 run on average over those games. As for American Canyon, their record is now 13-14.
