After a string of four wins, East Lincoln's good fortune finally ran out on Friday. They took a 15-11 hit to the loss column at the hands of North Iredell. Both teams can probably skip cardio this week after making that many trips around the bases.

East Lincoln got a massive performance out of Lyla Haywood, who went 3-for-4 with four RBI and a double. Another player making a difference was Madison Currence, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 2-for-4.

Meanwhile, Foard put their dominant pitcher on display in the team's fourth consecutive shutout on Monday. They put the hurt on Statesville with a sharp 18-0 win. The result was nothing new for Foard, who have now won four contests by ten runs or more so far this season.

Karsyn Sigmon was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She struck out nine batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits (and not a single walk). Sigmon has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive pitching appearances. Sigmon was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with a home run, three RBI, and two runs.

In other batting news, Foard got a massive performance out of Riley Vogel, who scored two runs and stole three bases while going 1-for-1. Mattie Leonhardt was another key contributor, going 2-for-2 with two runs, a triple, and a stolen base.

East Lincoln's defeat dropped their record down to 4-4. As for Foard, their victory bumped their record up to 4-2.

Both the two teams just can't seem to miss. East Lincoln has been making plenty of contact this season, having averaged 9.6 hits per game. However, it's not like Foard struggles in that department as they've been averaging only 4 per game. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.

East Lincoln was able to grind out a solid win over Foard in their previous meeting back in April of 2023, winning 7-2. One of the biggest obstacles trying to stand in the way of that victory was Foard's Alyssa Smith, who tossed five innings while giving up just one earned run off three hits (she also only allowed one walk). Now that she won't be playing on Tuesday, will it be that much easier for East Lincoln to walk away with another win? There's only one way to find out.
