Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Union County). They were the clear victor by a 22-16 margin over the Bradford Tornadoes on Friday. The victory was nothing new for the Fightin' Tigers as they're now sitting on five straight.
Union County got a massive performance out of Campbell Webb, who scored four runs and stole a base while getting on base in five of her six plate appearances. Those four runs gave Webb a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Leanne Dicks, who scored two runs while going 3-for-5.
Union County kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 19 hits. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their hit total in three consecutive matches.
Union County pushed their record up to 9-4 with the win, which was their third straight on the road. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 17.3 runs over those games. As for Bradford, they now have a losing record of 4-5.
Looking ahead, Union County will square off against Branford at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. Branford will roll in looking for their fourth straight victory, something Union County surely won't give up without a fight. Bradford will have a little extra prep time after the defeat as they won't be playing again for a while. They'll take on Hawthorne at 7:00 p.m. on March 27th. Bradford is facing Hawthorne at the right time seeing as Hawthorne is stuck on a four-game losing streak.
