Basketball Recap: Thomas Jefferson Beats Hinkley for Their Eighth Straight Win

Thomas Jefferson had won seven straight games and Shane Curry did his part to make it eight on Friday. The Thomas Jefferson Spartans really took it to the Hinkley Thunder for the full four quarters, racking up a 71-34 victory thanks in part to Curry, who dropped a double-double on 27 points and ten rebounds. His evening made it 13 games in a row in which he has scored at least ten points.

The team also got some help courtesy of Zack Vanabbema, who dropped a double-double on 13 points and 13 boards. Those 13 points gave him a new career-high.

When it comes to explaining why Hinkley lost, don't look at Qwanarias Moorelake. Despite the final result, he posted six points along with 12 rebounds and five blocks.

Thomas Jefferson's win was their fifth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 10-4. As for Hinkley, they are on a 14-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-11.

Thomas Jefferson will host Denver North at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Thomas Jefferson has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games. Hinkley has already played their next contest, a 70-54 defeat against Montbello on the 27th.
