Basketball Game Preview: Genesee Valley Jaguars vs. Cuba-Rushford Rebels

The Genesee Valley Jaguars just played yesterday, but they'll still head out to face the Cuba-Rushford Rebels at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Both come into the matchup bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

It was a proper cat-fight when Genesee Valley took on Andover on Thursday. Genesee Valley managed a 50-44 victory over Andover. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Jaguars.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Cuba-Rushford). They blew past Hinsdale Central 66-21 on Thursday. Given the Rebels' advantage in MaxPreps' New York basketball rankings (they are ranked 299th, while the Bobcats are ranked 723rd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Cuba-Rushford's win was their fourth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 10-3. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 54.5 points per game. As for Genesee Valley, they are on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four games, which provided a nice bump to their 9-6 record this season.

Genesee Valley lost to Cuba-Rushford on the road by a decisive 40-21 margin in their previous matchup back in January. Can Genesee Valley avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
