Baseball Game Preview: Prosser Falcons vs. Amundsen Vikings

The Prosser Falcons will head out on the road to square off against the Amundsen Vikings at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. Prosser has given up an average of 7.3 runs per game this season, but Thursday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Thursday just wasn't the day for Prosser's offense. They lost 18-0 to Mather last Thursday. The defeat continues a trend for the Falcons in their meetings with the Rangers: they've now lost three in a row.

Meanwhile, Amundsen gave up the first runs on Friday, but they didn't let that get them down. They walked away with a 7-4 win over Northside. That's two games straight that the Vikings have won by exactly three runs.

Patrick O'Keefe made a splash no matter where he played. He struck out nine batters over five innings while giving up just two earned (and two unearned) runs off four hits. That's the most strikeouts he has posted over his last five matches. He was also stellar in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with one home run, four RBI, and two runs. That home run was his first of the season.

O'Keefe wasn't the only one making solid contact as seven players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Will LaPorte, who went 1-for-4 with one stolen base and one run.

Amundsen is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 11-22-1 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 6.5 runs over those games. As for Prosser, their loss dropped their record down to 11-8.

Prosser might still be hurting after the 14-2 defeat they got from Amundsen in their previous meeting back in April of 2024. Can the Falcons avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
