Clinton Prairie hasn't had much luck against Carroll recently, but that could start to change on Wednesday. The Gophers will venture away from home to square off against the Cougars at 5:30 p.m. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, these teams will really light up the scoreboard.
While Clinton Prairie didn't have the best season last year (they finished 11-14), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past. They put the hurt on Western Boone with a sharp 12-1 win on Monday. The Gophers might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won four matches by ten runs or more this season.

Clinton Prairie's victory was truly a team effort as seven different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Kye Jacobs, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, five RBI, and two runs. The dominant performance also gave Jacobs a new career-high in doubles (two). Another was Wyatt Harshbarger, who went 1-for-2 with two runs and one RBI.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Carroll). They blew past Taylor 17-7 on Tuesday.
Carroll got a big performance out of Landon Hammond, who went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one double. Coy Lytle also deserves some recognition as he hit his first triple of the season.
Carroll was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .412. That's the best batting average they've posted all season.
Clinton Prairie pushed their record up to 6-3 with the win, which was their eighth straight at home dating back to last season. The home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.4 runs over those games. As for Carroll, their win ended a seven-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 3-9.
Clinton Prairie skirted past Carroll 9-8 in their previous matchup back in May of 2024. Do the Gophers have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Cougars turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
