League recap: Williamstown extends winning streak with victory over Timber Creek Regional

West Jersey - American recap Oct. 3, 2012

Williamstown extended the longest winning streak in West Jersey - American this week by beating Timber Creek Regional, 26-18. This was the team's fourth consecutive win.

Cherry Hill East moved up to 86 from 126 in the state rankings this week, the biggest jump in the league. The Cougars climbed the ranks as a result of a 26-25 win over Moorestown.

Washington Township's offense was tough to stop this week, as it produced the league's top passer, rusher and receiver. Thomas Hildebrand threw for 85 and one touchdown and John Williams had 64 yards receiving. On the ground Andrew O'Neill chipped in 113 yards. Matthew Long helped Washington Township's passing attack out by catching one ball for 30 yards.

On the ground, Williamstown's Marquis Little has rushed for 368 yards which leads the league. The leading receiver in the league this season is Jake Powell. The Cherokee star has 12 catches for 149 yards.

Two highly touted recruits will be in the spotlight when Eastern and Frank Fucetola's team meet this week. The Vikings features well-regarded senior Eli Woodard while the Braves has Buddy Browne, a sought after senior.

A big matchup in West Jersey - American this week will be when Eastern takes on Williamstown. Dan Spittal's team is in third place, while the Braves are in first place.

Cherry Hill East and the Quakers played the most hotly contested game in the league this week, with Cherry Hill East eventually emerging with a 26-25 victory.
