Baseball Game Preview: Purdue Broad Ripple Lynx vs. Crothersville Tigers

The Purdue Broad Ripple Lynx will take on the Crothersville Tigers at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday. Purdue Broad Ripple will be strutting in after a win while Crothersville will be coming in after a loss.

Purdue Broad Ripple gave up the first runs last Tuesday, but they didn't let that get them down. Everything went their way against Christel House as they made off with a 19-7 victory. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Lynx.

Dylan Smith was a major factor while hitting and pitching. He struck out six batters over three innings while giving up just one earned run but no hits. Smith was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 2-for-4. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in RBI (three).

In other batting news, Daniel Pratt was incredible, scoring four runs and stealing a base while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances. Carter Brooks was another key player, scoring three runs and stealing a base while going 2-for-3.

Meanwhile, Crothersville was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their 19th straight defeat dating back to last season. They lost 21-2 to Waldron.

Josh Reynolds made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and scored a run and stole four bases while going 1-for-2.

Crothersville's loss dropped their record down to 0-3. As for Purdue Broad Ripple, they now have a winning record of 2-1.

Crothersville's hitters will have their work cut out for them on Thursday. Purdue Broad Ripple has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 10.3 strikeouts per game. It's a different story for Crothersville, though, as they've been averaging only 3.7 strikeouts. Will Purdue Broad Ripple keep running through batters, or will the Tigers buck the trend?

Everything went Purdue Broad Ripple's way against Crothersville in their previous meeting back in April of 2024, as Purdue Broad Ripple made off with a 12-5 win. Do the Lynx have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Tigers turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
