Baseball Game Preview: Rio Rico Hawks vs. Sunnyside Blue Devils

The Rio Rico Hawks will venture away from home to take on the Sunnyside Blue Devils at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Neither of those teams managed to put together many runs in their previous contests, so the offenses might be a little more motivated than usual.

On Thursday, Rio Rico didn't have quite enough to beat Cholla and fell 3-2.

Jonathan Cantua made the most of his time in the batter's box despite the final result and earned two runs and three stolen bases.

Meanwhile, Sunnyside unfortunately witnessed the end of their six-game winning streak on Friday. They fell 7-2 to Catalina Foothills.

Sunnyside's defeat dropped their record down to 14-10. As for Rio Rico, their loss dropped their record down to 15-14.

Tuesday's contest might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. Rio Rico has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .439. However, it's not like Sunnyside struggles in that department as they've averaged .437. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.

Rio Rico might still be hurting after the 8-0 defeat they got from Sunnyside when the teams last played back in April of 2025. Can the Hawks avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
